Fire is probably one of my biggest fears.

There are times when I think about what I would grab as I run out of the house if there ever was a fire. Besides family and pets I would probably try to grab my car keys and I always think about snatching my laptop on the way out.

The other day I found a link on Reddit about an author that ran back into a burning building to rescue his laptop that had his latest two novels on the hard drive.

I can understand the fear and frustration of losing something you have worked so hard on.

But in this day and age, there is no excuse to not have multiple backups in different locations. With things like Google Drive and Dropbox you can save files and access them from multiple locations.

You can even do it the old fashioned way and back up to disks or USB drives and hold them in a safe deposit box or fire proof safe or something.

Yes, I would probably grab my laptop while escaping a fire if I could, but if I couldn’t I wouldn’t lose anything that I was working on because…
